Headteacher’s Message

Stephen Waldron

I am delighted to welcome you to Chilton Bridge School. Nestled in the heart of the Somerset countryside, we are a school where children can be themselves, discover and nurture their passions and talents, and can learn in safety, happiness and with optimism - where they can truly be the ‘architects of their future’.

Set in beautiful grounds with space to explore – including an extensive outdoor classroom and forest school area – we encourage our students to engage with their own interests as the launchpad for learning that will help them build a future career pathway adapted to their needs, whatever they may be. We believe that there should be no barriers or ceilings preventing children with neurodiversity from being successful as individuals, with all options open to them as they map their individual futures.

Our school community is calm, purposeful but also exciting and challenging in a positive, affirming way.

The Spaghetti Bridge Enterprise Learning model allows students to design their learning using their own interests as a scaffold that drives a highly personalised educational journey. Students study a wide range of subjects through projects, coupled with opportunities to experience, grow and understand the world around them through trips and visits in our local community and beyond.

Having been in education for over 24 years – and having served as a Headteacher in a range of schools nationally and internationally – my philosophy is simply that every child, regardless of their starting points, needs or backgrounds, has every right to expect the best education and to have every opportunity available to them as they move forward with their lives. At Chilton Bridge we create the environment where this philosophy becomes a reality.

I look forward to welcoming you to our school.
